چکیده

There is an error in the first three sentences under the subheading “Cut-Off value of SpO2” in the Results section. The correct sentences are: We hypothesized that the cut-off value of each pulse oximeter to detect hypoxemia (SaO2< = 90% or PaO2< = 60 mmHg) was different. We calculated the sensitivity, specificity, PPV, and NPV of each pulse oximeter to detect hypoxemia. As shown in Table 5, the specificity ([patients with SaO2< = 90 and SpO2< = 90] / [patients with SaO2< = 90]) by Masimo Radical was 45.5% and the NPV ([patients with SaO2< = 90 and SpO2< = 90] / [patients with SpO2>90]) by Nihonkohden 3100 was 65.0%.

Accuracy of Pulse Oximeters in Detecting Hypoxemia in Patients with Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension

PURPOSE Pulse oximetry is routinely used to continuously and non-invasively monitor arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2). When oxygen saturation by pulse oximeter (SpO2) overestimates SaO2, hypoxemia may be overlooked. We compared the SpO2 - SaO2 differences among three pulse oximeters in patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) who spent their daily lives in a poor oxyg...

Drug Therapy in Patients with Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension

Background: Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH) results from the obstruction of predominantly major pulmonary vessels by organized blood clots and is one of the causes of pulmonary hypertension. The disease is still underdiagnosed and the true prevalence is not clear. The objective of this study was to determine the clinical characteristics and current management of patients w...

Daytime measurements underestimate nocturnal oxygen desaturations in pulmonary arterial and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension.

BACKGROUND Nocturnal hypoxemia is important in precapillary pulmonary hypertension (pPH) as it worsens pulmonary hemodynamics. Whether daytime oxygen saturation (SpO(2)) predicts nocturnal hypoxemia in pPH patients has not been conclusively studied. OBJECTIVES To investigate the prevalence of nocturnal hypoxemia in comparison to daytime SpO(2) and disease severity in ambulatory patients with ...

While pulmonary thromboembolism is common, thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension is very rare. The present case is a 35 year old woman with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension, who presented with severe dyspnea and leg edema, following an earlier thrombotic event of 10 years earlier, after her her second childbearing. She also had a history of the first childbearing complicated with c...

Platelet survival time in patients with hypoxemia and pulmonary hypertension.

Platelet survival time (autologous labeling with 51chromium) was measured in 63 patients in order to evaluate the role of platelets in the thromboembolic complications of patients with hypoxemia and pulmonary hypertension. Thirty-eight of these patients had chronic obstructive airways disease; 13, primary pulmonary hypertension; seven, recurrent pulmonary embolism; four, the Eisenmenger syndrom...
